Chirpy Children Speech and Language Therapy Services

Last updated: 3 November 2026

Welcome to Chirpy Children. We aim to provide a friendly, professional and supportive speech and language therapy service for children and their families.

These Terms & Conditions explain how our services operate, including appointments, payments, cancellations and professional responsibilities. Please read them before arranging an assessment or therapy.

1. Our Services

Chirpy Children provides specialist speech and language therapy services, with a particular focus on children’s speech sound difficulties.

Services may include assessments, individual therapy, advice to parents and carers, written reports and liaison with other professionals.

All services are provided by Sarah Clavin, a qualified Speech and Language Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Assessment and therapy are tailored to each child’s individual needs and delivered in accordance with relevant professional standards and evidence-based practice.

2. Appointments and Fees

Our current fees are published on the Fees page of this website.

Appointments are arranged directly with Sarah by telephone or email.

Full payment is required at least 48 hours before a scheduled appointment or the commencement of an assessment. This includes the initial assessment fee and individual therapy sessions.

Appointments are confirmed once the relevant arrangements have been agreed and payment has been received.

Payment details will be provided when an appointment is arranged.

Clients are responsible for payment of fees, including where they intend to claim reimbursement through private health insurance.

Any additional chargeable services will be discussed and agreed in advance.

3. Cancellations and Missed Appointments

We understand that unexpected circumstances arise, particularly when working with children.

We kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed appointments, may incur a charge of up to the full appointment fee, reflecting the reasonable financial loss incurred. Any charge will take account of relevant circumstances and whether the appointment can be offered to another client.

Where sufficient notice is provided, we will endeavour to arrange an alternative appointment. Any advance payment can be transferred to a rearranged appointment or refunded, as appropriate.

If Sarah needs to cancel an appointment, you will be informed as soon as possible and offered an alternative appointment or a refund for the service not provided.

4. Initial Assessments

The initial assessment fee covers a package of professional services, including case history gathering, face-to-face assessment sessions, clinical analysis, feedback and a written summary report.

If an assessment is cancelled after work has commenced, any refund will take account of the services already provided and reasonable costs or losses incurred.

The amount retained will be explained where applicable, and any remaining balance refunded.

5. Therapy and Parental Involvement

Parents and carers play an important role in supporting their child’s communication development.

A parent or responsible adult is expected to attend therapy sessions, unless alternative arrangements have been agreed.

Advice and activities may be provided for practice between appointments to support progress.

While every effort is made to provide effective, evidence-based therapy, individual progress varies and specific outcomes cannot be guaranteed.

Please inform Sarah of any relevant changes to your child’s health or circumstances that may affect their assessment or therapy.

If your child is unwell, particularly with a potentially contagious illness, please contact Sarah before attending a face-to-face appointment.

6. Confidentiality and Data Protection

Chirpy Children is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of children and their families.

Personal information and clinical records are handled securely and in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).

Relevant information may be shared with other professionals where appropriate consent or another lawful basis applies.

Information may also be disclosed where required or permitted by law, including for safeguarding purposes.

For further information about how personal information is collected, used, stored and protected, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

7. Communication

Chirpy Children may communicate with parents and carers by telephone, email or secure video call.

Appropriate safeguards are used when sharing confidential or sensitive information.

Brief routine communications are included within our usual service. More extensive professional liaison, meetings or additional reports may incur a charge, as detailed on our Fees page. Any additional costs will be agreed in advance.

Audio or video recording of appointments requires prior agreement.

8. Ending Therapy

Parents and carers may choose to discontinue therapy at any time, subject to any applicable and fair cancellation arrangements.

Sarah may recommend ending therapy when agreed goals have been achieved, further intervention is no longer clinically indicated, or the child’s needs would be better supported by another service.

Where appropriate, advice and recommendations for future support will be provided.

Chirpy Children may also discontinue services where there are significant concerns regarding safety, repeated non-attendance or circumstances that prevent effective therapy. Such decisions will be communicated appropriately, taking account of the child’s needs and wellbeing.

9. Complaints and Concerns

We aim to provide a high standard of professional care and welcome feedback from families.

If you have any concerns about the service, please contact Sarah directly so that they can be discussed and addressed.

Where concerns cannot be resolved, further advice may be available from the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP), where applicable.

Concerns relating to professional conduct or fitness to practise may also be referred to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

10. Changes to These Terms

Chirpy Children may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect changes to services, professional guidance or legal requirements.

The latest version will be available on this website. Any material changes affecting existing bookings or agreed services will be communicated appropriately and will not retrospectively alter agreed contractual terms without a lawful basis.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects your statutory consumer rights.
